Overview
- MD – Anaesthesiology is a rigorous three-year postgraduate medical programme designed to train physicians to become specialists in administering anaesthesia, providing perioperative care, and managing pain and critical care scenarios. Residents gain experience in various clinical settings including operating theatres, intensive care units (ICUs), trauma care, obstetric anaesthesia, and pain clinics. The curriculum covers pharmacology of anaesthetic agents, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, regional and general anaesthesia techniques, and emergency resuscitation.
- Training combines theoretical instruction, clinical duty, and supervised practice to develop proficiency in safe anaesthetic delivery and advanced life support. Residents participate in multidisciplinary teams, manage acute clinical situations, and develop skills that are essential for safe surgical outcomes and patient care. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to work as specialist anaesthesiologists in hospitals, pursue academic or research roles, or seek further subspecialty training.
