Medical College, Baroda (also called Government Medical College Baroda) is one of the prominent government medical colleges in Gujarat, established in 1949, affiliated with Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The MD in Anaesthesiology is a rigorous 3-year full-time postgraduate program with 17 seats available. Students are trained in a variety of anaesthesia techniques (general, regional, local), pain management, intraoperative and postoperative care, and critical care management. There is exposure to high surgical case loads at the affiliated S.S.G. Hospital, enabling hands-on clinical experience in operating theatres, ICUs, and emergency settings. The program also includes academic work, research, seminars, journal clubs, and rotations through different subspecialties of anaesthesia (paediatric, obstetric, cardiac, if available, etc.). Emphasis is also placed on patient safety, monitoring technologies, pharmacology of anaesthetic agents, and perioperative medicine.
