Overview

    1. The Department of Anatomy at BGSGIMS provides a robust academic and research-oriented environment for MD Anatomy trainees. It is equipped with well-maintained infrastructure: a dedicated Lecture Hall, a Histology Lab, a Dissection hall (with cold storage cadaver facility), demonstration rooms for osteology, a museum with dry and wet specimens, and a departmental library.
    2. Teaching is enhanced through use of 3D multimedia projectors, museum-based learning, and small-group tutorials — ensuring not only theoretical knowledge but also practical exposure to anatomy.
    3. The department also supports voluntary body-donation programs for teaching and research purposes, which enrich learning and foster an academic/research-oriented culture.
    4. The MD Anatomy program aims to develop anatomists — for careers in academia (teaching in medical colleges), research (basic medical sciences, anatomy research, allied fields), or allied healthcare education. Being part of a larger multi-speciality medical college, students may also benefit from interdisciplinary exposure with clinical departments and integrated learning curricula.
    5. Overall, BGSGIMS positions itself as a centre of excellence in medical education and research, striving to produce competent professionals with strong grounding in medical sciences under the aegis of modern facilities and experienced faculty.
