Overview
A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (AJIMS), Mangalore, is a well-established tertiary care teaching hospital and medical college campus, affiliated to RGUHS and recognized by regulatory authorities. The M.Ch Urology program at AJIMS offers comprehensive surgical training in urology — encompassing adult and pediatric urological disorders, endourology, reconstructive procedures, oncology, stone disease, and emergency urological care. The department provides operative theatres, endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery facilities, diagnostics, and inpatient services that ensure a significant clinical load — giving residents wide exposure to varied urological cases. Residents undergo rigorous hands-on training, patient management, surgical procedures under supervision, and follow-ups. Academic components include seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, clinical and operative audits, and research projects. The program prepares surgeons capable of independent practice, academic teaching, research, or further sub-specialization. Given AJIMS’s infrastructure, multi-specialty hospital setup, and experienced faculty, the M.Ch Urology course is positioned to produce competent urologic surgeons ready for modern surgical challenges.
