Overview
- For performing complex GI surgical procedures, the Department is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments such as a 4k laparoscope, intraoperative ultrasound (BK Medical), and energy sources such as Harmonic (Ethicon Gen 10) and Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA) (Sonoca 300, Soring GmBH).
- Department have a dedicated 1-hour schedule of various teaching and learning activities (Audit, Journal club, Seminar, Mortality meet).

Eligibility
A candidate must have passed the M.S. degree in Surgery of this Institute or any other University or any other equivalent degree recognized by the MCI.
Minimum Education
MS (Master of Surgery)
Admission Process:
- Stage I: Written-test carrying 80 marks of 90 minutes duration in the subject the candidate has applied for. The question paper will consist of 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Stage II: Out of the candidates who have secured 50% or more marks [as per the decision of the meeting of the 116th Academic Committee (item No.AC/116/10 dated 06.03.2018) in the written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab-based assessment (carrying 20 marks).

Selection for M.Ch courses are made through 2 Stage Performance Evaluation basis.
