Overview

    • The Accident and Emergency Medicine, is the broad medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention.
    • The role of Emergency medical practitioner is as first-line providers, responsible for initiating investigations and interventions to diagnose and/or treat patients in the acute phase (including initial resuscitation and stabilization), coordinating care with physicians from other specialties, and making decisions regarding a patient’s need for hospital admission, observation, or discharge.
    • The course is recognized by Society of Emergency Medicine India (SEMI), a member of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM).
    • The training comprises of rotatory postings in Emergency room, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU and OT to attain skills to provide emergency care, critical care and basic anesthesia.
    • Pre-hospital emergency care and in-hospital emergency codes are included in training.
