Master of Science (MSc) in Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing

1. Holds B.Sc Nursing / B.Sc (Hons) Nursing / Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing from an INC-/state-council-recognized institution.
2. Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) or equivalent under a recognized State Nursing Council.
3. Minimum aggregate marks in qualifying degree (≈ 55% general, with possible relaxation for SC/ST).
4. Medically fit (fitness certification may be required).
5. Some institutes expect at least one year of work experience after basic nursing qualification (especially after B.Sc or Post-Basic B.Sc) — though for BRAMC the official public documentation does not clearly state a mandatory experience requirement for every specialization.

The M.Sc Nursing (OBG) programme at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course built to provide advanced education and specialized skills in women’s health, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and gynecological nursing.

Students are trained in advanced nursing practice, obstetric care during pregnancy, labour and delivery, postnatal care, gynecological nursing, newborn care, family welfare, maternal & child health, midwifery, and may also study aspects of public health, community health as related to maternal care. This includes both theory and significant clinical exposure — practical training in affiliated teaching hospitals attached to the institute.

The curriculum aligns with standards set by RGUHS and national nursing guidelines; it also includes research methodology and statistics, enabling students to undertake dissertations or research projects—preparing them for roles as advanced clinical practitioners, educators, researchers, or administrators in maternal & women’s health sectors.

Annual intake is limited (5 students), ensuring small batch size for personalized and intensive training.

Completion of this course positions graduates to work as specialized obstetric and gynecological nurses, midwives, maternal health care providers, or take up roles in teaching, hospital administration, maternal-child health programs, community health centres, NGOs, or further research/PhD paths.
