Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in MLS or a relevant science.
2. Minimum GPA of approximately 3.0.
3. Previous laboratory experience is advantageous.
4. Three letters of recommendation.
5. International applicants may need TOEFL/IELTS scores.
6. Prerequisite laboratory science coursework (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.) required if not already completed.

The MSMLS program at UTMB trains students to assume advanced roles in clinical laboratory science, focusing on research methodology, laboratory management, advanced diagnostic techniques, and educational leadership. The curriculum includes advanced coursework in clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and quality laboratory practices, with opportunities for practicums and research experiences. Students learn how to troubleshoot complex laboratory issues, validate diagnostic procedures, and interpret clinical results. Graduates are qualified for positions in academic settings, clinical laboratory leadership, industry roles, and are equipped to contribute to evidence-based laboratory medicine.
