The Master of Science (MS) in Medical Biotechnology (MBT) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine – Rockford is a two-year, full-time graduate program that provides advanced education and hands-on training in biotechnology and biomedical sciences. Eligibility
- Hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a science- or engineering-related field from an accredited institution.
- Have completed prerequisite coursework in:
- College Mathematics
- General Biology
- Biochemistry
- General Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry (or equivalent engineering coursework)
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 in the final 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate study.
- Submit official transcripts from all relevant undergraduate and post-baccalaureate institutions.
- Submit three letters of recommendation (one from an employer if currently employed; others from faculty or professional references).
- Submit a personal statement describing career goals.
- GRE is not required.
- International applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirements (TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic), if applicable.

Admission Process:

- Final Admission Decision: Successful applicants receive an official admission letter from the UIC Graduate College and complete enrollment before the program begins.
