Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Biotechnology

Overview

• This two year programme encompasses in-depth training in a variety of industrially important areas, such as fermentation, microbiology, drug discovery and synthetic biology. Students will acquire an applied understanding of computational tools and analytical methods, and how to utilise their advanced knowledge in bio-business to develop relevant and necessary products for the industrial sector.

This programme will cover;

1. Industrial bioprocess technology, scale up and downstream processing
2. Fundamentals and practice of Synthetic Biology
3. Directed evolution; microbiomics, metagenomics and bioinformatics
4. Anti-microbial resistance (AMR) mitigation
5. Drug discovery; associated regulatory and IP issues
6. Microbial technologies including biocatalysis; re- and upcycling of industrial waste
7. Extremophiles
8. Biosensors
9. Principles of the circular economy and sustainable product design

Eligibility

A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree of 3 years duration (B.Sc. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
