Master of Science (MSc) in Community Health Nursing

• The minimum education requirement shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with one year of experience in Clinical/Teaching. PB B.Sc(N) graduates, who have got experience of minimum one year after GNM can directly apply for M.Sc(N).
• The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
• Other state students must have Karnataka Nursing Council registration certificate.

The programme prepares nurses for leadership position in nursing and health fields who can function as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researchers in a wide variety of professional settings in meeting the National priorities and the changing needs of the society. This programme provides the basis for the post masteral programme in nursing. Further, the programme encourages accountability and commitment to lifelong learning which fosters improvement of quality care.

On Completion of the two years M.Sc Nursing programme, the graduate will be able to:

• Demonstrate advanced competence in practice of nursing
• Demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as nurse educator and manager
• Demonstrate skill in conducting nursing research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health related research
• Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in nursing practice and in the health care delivery system
• Demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement
