Overview

    The Psychiatric Nursing course offers a specialized training on various factors involved in assessing, addressing and monitoring the mental health and behavioural condition of an individual. A registered psychiatric nurse, after a thorough assessment of the condition, develops a nursing plan of care. Once the plan is implemented, the nurse periodically evaluates its effectiveness, based upon which modifications may be introduced if need be.

    Some of the other core responsibilities of a psychiatric nurse may include:

    • Assisting with various activities related to self-care.
    • Involving clients in recreational activities.
    • Conducting regular therapy sessions.
    • Helping patients regain coping abilities.

Eligibility

    • The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Council registration.
    • Minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
