Overview

    The Department of Psychiatric Nursing deal with adult psychiatry, deaddction, adolescent and child psychiatry and community psychiatry with adequate facilities for teaching - learning activities and research work. The Psychiatric Nursing laboratory has provision for various methods of teaching - learning for the undergraduate and postgraduate students. The self- learning desk is one of the innovative tool installed in the Psychiatric Nursing Laboratory for the use of nursing students to stimulate their critical thinking and improve their skill. The faculty members use OSCE to evaluate UG & PG students. Faculty members prepared core competency and trained the clinical instructors in their respective areas to improve the skill of students. The department observes significant days like World Mental Health Day and World Alzheimer’s day. The department has organized National Psychiatric Nursing Conference with a support grant from ICMR. Conduction of Continuing Nursing Education Program with Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives council accredited credit hours is an yearly event. The various mental health camps in collaboration with the department of Psychiatry is an added strength. The faculty members have many national and international paper presentations to their credit and have served as resource persons at state, national and international forums.

Eligibility

    1. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council. 2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc Nursing /Bsc Hons Nursing/Post Basic B.sc Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
