Embryology is the science and sub-field of Assisted reproductive technology (ART) that deals with the development and growth of an individual before birth. It begins with the fertilization of an oocyte (ovum) by a sperm and culminates with the birth of the baby. Clinical Embryology is a stream of biology which mainly focuses on the study of fertilization of eggs and the healthy development of the embryos. Specialized persons working in the field of Clinical Embryology are known as embryologists. An embryologist focuses on the creation of embryos outside the mother's womb (Embryology Laboratory) with the help of sperm and eggs.
