The Master of Public Health (MPH) at UTMB prepares students to protect and improve population health across diverse settings through applied public health practice, research, and policy. The program emphasizes foundational competencies in assessing population health, designing and evaluating public health interventions, working effectively with communities and cross-sector partners, and communicating public health information responsibly. Students choose one of several concentrations — including Bioethics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health Practice, or Generalist — each tailored to specific career paths in public health. The curriculum comprises MPH core coursework, concentration-specific classes, an Applied Practice Experience (APE), and an Integrative Learning Experience (ILE) that provides hands-on public health practice and capstone synthesis.
