Overview

    The inception of this unique course of Physiotherapy was dreamed by Padmashree Awardee Late Prof. (Dr.) H. L. Trivedi sir and the vision turned into reality with the tireless efforts of Dr. Veena Shah, Dr. Aruna Vanikar and Dr. Neetaben Vyas. The Master of Physiotherapy Course in Transplantation Rehabilitation is a regular full time course of 2 years’ duration. Transplantation Rehabilitation is an innovative and nascent field. Considering the rate of increment in organ transplantation centers and number of transplantations performed annually not only in India but globally, there is rapidly increasing demand for the care of the patient before and after transplantation.

    The course is designed to deliver the knowledge of basic science covering all clinical and surgical aspects of organ transplantation, Transplantation biology, aspects of immunology, Clinical science and pharmacology related to abdominal organ failure, pre - post transplantation management, Physical and functional evaluation in subjects with solid organ failure, before surgery, immediately after surgery of transplantation, critical care and In-patient management of transplant recipient, and long term follow-up.

    The course covers applied as well as advanced physio-therapeutics to assess, plan, implement rehabilitative programs, skillful examination, evaluation to plan the care that fosters improvement in physical functioning and maximizing overall quality of life that improves or restores human motor functions, maximize movement ability, relieve pain syndromes, treat or prevent physical challenges associated with co-morbidity, organ dysfunction, and other impairments. This is one of the cutting edges as well as emerging unique concept in practice of physiotherapy for preparation of a post-graduate student towards his/her professional autonomy with self-regulating discipline at par with global standards.

Eligibility

    The candidate must have completed the recognized B. physiotherapy with a minimum of 50 % marks and a compulsory rotating internship of six months before the date of first counseling. All candidates shall have to submit the documentary proof from the Principal / Dean of college regarding the date of completion of internship along with the application, failing which their application shall be summarily rejected. However, the candidate should have to produce a full internship completion certificate at the time of counseling, failing which, the candidate will not be eligible for admission.
