Overview
- Pharmaceutical chemistry is interdisciplinary science that deals with the phytochemical isolations and characterizations of isolated phytoconstituents.
- Modern approaches like quantitative structure activity relationship, computer aided novel drug designing and molecular modeling, microwave synthetic chemistry, identification and characterization of novel synthesized compounds or drug using various spectroscopic techniques, development and analysis of New Chemical Entity (NCE).
- This study helps to understand mechanism of action of drug at molecular level.
- Modern techniques like High performance liquid chromatography, UV spectroscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, autoanalyser etc. are used to study the chemical nature of drugs. The students are well known with the application of modern scientific technologies in drug development safety and efficacy studies.
- The department is well equipped with an instrumentation laboratory in which necessary sophisticated instruments like FTIR with ATR technique, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, autoanalyser and various instruments are available to provide facilities to our students, academicians, researchers, technologists to carry out experiments on sophisticated instruments not available in their own institutions.
