Master of Occupational Therapy

Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree (or equivalent) from a recognised institution.

Possess a satisfactory academic record (e.g., credit average or equivalent) as determined by the University’s selection criteria.

For applicants without a prior health-science/OT background, complete the required prescribed units in anatomy/psychology as part of their enrolment.

Meet English language proficiency requirements (for international students).

Be prepared to undertake clinical placements (practical fieldwork) and meet pre-placement requirements such as CPR certification, clearances etc.

1. The Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney is a rigorous professional programme designed to equip graduates from diverse backgrounds to enter the occupational therapy profession.

Over two years of intensive coursework (96 credit points), students cover core domains including human motor, cognitive and psychosocial functioning; theory of occupation and participation; assessment and intervention planning; environment and context analysis; and professional communication and ethical practice.

4. The programme is fully accredited, meaning upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as an Occupational Therapist via AHPRA and to join professional bodies such as the Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) and WFOT.

Graduates are prepared to work in a wide range of settings, including hospitals (acute, rehabilitation), community health, disability services, private practice, aged care, mental health, and educational and workplace-based rehabilitation.
