The Master of Medicine (Metabolic Health) at the University of Sydney has been developed to give students a comprehensive, applied understanding of the aetiology, diagnosis and multidisciplinary management of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and associated cardiovascular complications The curriculum is structured to allow practising clinicians to continue their work while studying—largely delivered online, with short intensive workshops on-campus (e.g., at the Charles Perkins Centre). Core units include clinical epidemiology and ethics in metabolic health, stream-specific units cover diabetes, obesity, paediatric nutrition, cardiovascular metabolic management, and electives allow flexibility. Upon completion, graduates will be equipped to implement evidence-based metabolic care, integrate multidisciplinary approaches into practice, and advance in fields such as endocrinology, primary care or specialist medicine.
