The Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) at the University of Sydney is tailored for doctors and clinicians working in or aspiring to roles in intensive care, emergency medicine, anaesthesia and retrieval services. The curriculum addresses core critical‐care sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology) alongside specialist areas such as mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal life support, point-of-care ultrasound, major trauma management, and resource-limited critical care.
Delivered mostly online with some intensive face-to-face workshops, the programme allows working professionals flexibility.
The structure requires completion of 12 cp of compulsory units, 24 cp of stream-specific units, and 12 cp of elective units (total 48 cp) for the standard Master of Medicine.
Graduates will be equipped to enhance their clinical decision-making, simulation teaching capability, research literacy and leadership in critical care environments.
