MDS in Public Health Dentistry is a 3-year full-time postgraduate course divided across 4 semesters. Public Health Dentistry is a branch of general dentistry that involves dispensing professional oral health care at the community level. Students enrolled to the course are trained to practise the discipline towards prevention and control of dental diseases, and promotion of dental health through organized community efforts. Public Health Dentistry is the science and art of preventing oral and dental diseases and promoting oral and dental health, and general well-being among people of the community. The Department of Public Health Dentistry is concerned with purveying dental health education at the community level, also by means of applied dental research, administration of group dental care programs, and prevention and control of dental diseases among school-going children. Public Health Dentists possess broad expertise and skills in research methods, program administration, prevention and control of diseases and provision of dental care services for people of all ages within the community, including individuals who do not have access to proper healthcare facilities. This would include physically and mentally challenged people and otherwise underprivileged members of the community.
Admissions in MDS course will be done through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET MDS).
