Overview

    This program is designed to train competent dentists who can diagnose and rehabilitate clinical situations pertaining to partial and complete edentulism with removable or fixed prosthesis including implants. Students will be trained to learn procedural and operative skills in removable, fixed, maxillofacial and implant prosthodontics. Postgraduates are expected to acquire advanced knowledge in all facets of Prosthodontics with higher order skills in analysis, critical evaluation, professional clinical application, the ability to solve complex problems, think rigorously and independently and teat the patients with empathy. The program also provides a strong platform to facilitate academics, research and clinical practice.

    Objectives:

    This program will train surgeons with a high degree of competence in prosthodontics, crown and bridge, maxillofacial and implant dentistry, with an emphasis on prevention of edentulism. The program helps – 

    • To develop a scientific temper for scientific research into fundamental and applied prosthodontics. 
    • To strengthen clinical decision-making abilities.
    • To enhance their understanding of etiology, clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis of common oral diseases affecting teeth and surrounding structures that could result in edentulism.
    • To impart the ability to diagnose and plan treatments for patients with both partial and complete edentulism.
    • To critically analyze various treatment options and deliver it efficiently based on evidence-based dentistry.
    • To train students in various procedures for oral rehabilitation with the most appropriate prosthodontic modality.
    • To contribute to social needs and to work with empathy with geriatrics. 
    • To have a career in clinical prosthodontics, academics and research.

    Applicant should have Pass in BDS degree from a university recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI).
