Overview

    Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes. The course shall be of three years duration.

    Syllabus:

    A strict division of the subject may not be possible and some overlapping of subjects is inevitable. Students should be prepared to answer overlapping subjects. The concept of health care counseling shall be in corporated in all relevant areas.

    • Applied general anatomy of the head and neck, oral and dental anatomy and histology
    • Applied general and oral physiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, general and oral pathology and microbiology, microbiology
    • Research methodology, biostatistics
    • Dental radiology
    • Medical emergencies & management
    • Ethics in dentistry
    • Applied dental material sciences
    • Removable prosthodontics and oral implantology
    • Fixed partial prosthodontics, occlusion, tmj and aesthetics
    • Prosthodontic treatment modalities

    Paper-II: Removable Prosthodontics and Oral Implantology

Eligibility

    A candidate for admission to the Master in Dental Surgery course, must possess a recognized degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and has obtained provisional or permanent registration and has undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognized dental college.

BDS (Bachelor Of Dental Surgery)

Admission Process:

    There shall be a uniform NEET for admission to the post-graduate dental courses in each academic year conducted in the manner, as prescribed by the National Board of Examination or any other authority appointed by the Central Government in this behalf. The overall superintendence, direction and control of the NEET shall vest with the Council.
