MDS Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry

Applicant should have Pass in BDS degree from a university recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI).

Our program is designed to train students in the clinical diagnosis and management of oral health problems in infants and children, even those with special health care needs, through their adolescence. Students are expected to be adapt in all facets of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, which includes analysis, critical evaluation, diagnosis and clinical application.

Objectives:

This program aims to prepare dental surgeons who can help the growth and development of a child in physical, mental and emotional intelligence and prevent oral diseases. Students are trained to work with ease on the stomatognathic system in conjunction with the entire body and to understand the etiology of oral diseases that commonly affects the children. This program emphasizes the need for behavior management in the dental treatment of these children. The specific aims are

• To help students understand the growth and development of the stomatognathic system and overall aspects of the child.
• To enhance the understanding of the common oral diseases affecting the teeth and the supporting tissues of children through adolescent years, especially the etiology, clinical manifestations and differential diagnoses.
• To evaluate treatment options and deliver them efficiently using evidence-based dentistry.
• To analyze the behavior of children both in the clinical setup and outside in order to inculcate good dental behavior.
• To train students in using instruments and techniques for various procedures for oral rehabilitation.
• To provide opportunities for a career in pediatric dentistry.
