Oral medicine is the department that first greets the patient and addresses the chief complaint of the patient and formulates an appropriate treatment plan. It focuses on early diagnosis and management of potentially malignant disorders of the oral cavity in patients possessing oral habits such as consumption of tobacco products. This specialty deals with diagnosis and medical management of wide range of conditions like oral manifestations of systemic diseases, oral mucosal lesions, temporomandibular joint disorders, orofacial pain, neuralgias and salivary gland pathologies. Dental and Maxillofacial radiology is concerned with maxillofacial imaging with an advanced digital imaging system like cone beam computed tomography, orthopantanomogram and conventional intraoral and extraoral radiography.

Eligibility
A candidate for admission to the Master in Dental Surgery course, must possess a recognised degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and has obtained provisional or permanent registration and has undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognised dental college.
