MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology

A candidate for admission to the Master in Dental Surgery course, must possess a recognised degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and has obtained provisional or permanent registration and has undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognised dental college.

Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology represents the confluence of the basic sciences and clinical dentistry. Through the science of Oral Pathology, an attempt is made to correlate human biology with the signs and symptoms of human disease.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology is located on the third floor of Subharti Dental College & Hospital, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Subharti Dental College, Subharti University, Meerut. The department is well equipped with a practical laboratory for the undergraduate students, a seminar room for the postgraduates and undergraduate students, a museum displaying various specimens of Dental Anatomy and Oral Pathology and, departmental library, research room and histopathology lab.
The department has been certified with Good Laboratory Practice (ISR/GLP/1246) on 12.01.2021 issued by International Standards Registrations. The histopathology lab has a semi automatic microtome, automatic tissue processor and is well equipped for routine as well as special staining procedures. In addition to our histopathology lab, we also have a complete clinical laboratory set up for routine and advanced laboratory investigations. Our research lab consists of a research microscope with fluorescence attachment, polarizing attachment, phase contrast and dark field illumination attachments with a good photomicrography setup and an image analyzer software. The department is equipped with a penta head microscope which is used for teaching and discussion for the postgraduates and undergraduates.
