MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Overview

The didactic curriculum in oral and maxillofacial surgery focuses on surgical application of the basic biomedical sciences. The lecture series in oral and maxillofacial surgery occurs as part of the dental Specialties course. The students are expected to keep detailed record in a logbook of cases treated or assisted, under local and observed under general anaesthesia. An introduction to the basic principles of the discipline including techniques of administration of local anesthesia, basic exodontias armamentarium and technique, fundamental surgical principles including asepsis, wound healing and hemostasis, complex exodontias, management of dentoalveolar infections, management of soft tissue and dentoalveolar injuries, prevention and management of surgical complications are all addressed in a multidisciplinary case-based format.

Eligibility

The candidate must have completed BDS Course with one year internship on or before 31st March of the year of      admissions to the MDS course. Admissions are done through a single Common Entrance Test called National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-MDS) conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE).
