MDS Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

A candidate for admission to the MDS Course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a recognised degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect to the recognised Dental College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council. Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Course of any University in India.

The postgraduate course for Conservative dentistry and Endodontics was started in the year 1998. Five students for master’s degree and two students for postgraduate diploma are admitted every year. Selection is based on merit as per NBE-NEET MDS PG entrance exam. The department also offers PhD courses, under JSS University, both as part time (4 years) and full time (3 years) courses.

There shall be a uniform NEET for admission to the postgraduate dental courses in each academic year conducted in the manner, as prescribed by the National Board of Examination or any other authority appointed by the Central Government in this behalf. The overall superintendence, direction, and control of the NEET shall vest with the Council.
