The Interventional Nephrology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program providing advanced training in procedures related to kidney disease and dialysis care. Fellows receive hands-on experience in vascular access evaluation and management, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis catheter procedures, and native and transplant kidney biopsies. Training involves collaboration with nephrology, interventional radiology, and other multidisciplinary teams across UAB clinical sites. Fellows also participate in conferences, teaching activities, research, and quality improvement projects, developing the procedural and clinical skills required for independent practice in interventional nephrology
