Integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Care Fellowship

The Integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Care Fellowship is a two-year advanced fellowship program designed to train physician leaders in providing comprehensive care for older adults with serious illnesses. The program combines specialized training in geriatric medicine and hospice & palliative medicine, focusing on symptom management, advance care planning, complex medical decision-making, and improving quality of life for patients and families. Fellows receive multidisciplinary clinical training through rotations in hospitals, outpatient clinics, home-based care, nursing facilities, and hospice settings at UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco VA Medical Center, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and community care sites. The curriculum includes clinical rotations, weekly didactic sessions, literature review, journal clubs, research, quality improvement projects, education activities, and leadership development to prepare graduates for careers as clinicians, educators, researchers, and healthcare leaders in geriatrics and palliative care.
