The Integrated Cardiothoracic Residency Program at Keck School of Medicine of USC is a six-year residency designed to train residents in comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery. The program combines early cardiothoracic surgery exposure with general surgery training during the first three years, followed by advanced cardiothoracic training in cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, ventricular assist devices and transplantation, and critical care. Residents train across multiple hospitals, including Los Angeles General Medical Center, Keck Hospital of USC, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and USC Arcadia Hospital. The curriculum also includes structured didactic teaching, journal clubs, simulation training, and fresh tissue dissection laboratory experience.
