Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice at the University of Sydney is a flexible postgraduate coursework qualification tailored for two main groups: (i) pharmacy graduates entering internship and seeking registration as pharmacists in Australia, and (ii) practising registered pharmacists who wish to gain a formal postgraduate credential in pharmacy practice.

For interns, the programme incorporates the University’s Intern Training Program (ITP) units in the first year, enabling them to meet legislative requirements for pharmacist registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

Registered pharmacists may bypass the ITP units and instead undertake four elective units (24 credit points) to complete the award more quickly.

The programme emphasises advanced clinical pharmacy practice, evidence-based medicine, patient-centred care, pharmacotherapeutics, and professional leadership in pharmacy systems. Upon completion, graduates will be better equipped to practice pharmacy in Australia at a competent level and/or pursue further postgraduate study or specialisation.
