Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, is one of the oldest medical colleges in North India and the first one in the Jammu & Kashmir (J & K) State. GMC was established in the year 1959 with a few room dispensary at the banks of Jhelum near the current LD hospital. GMC has emerged as a premier medical college in the country. Apart from nurturing Medical professionals over after few decades. GMC is providing a healing touch to the majority of the population of the state.
