General Practice Residency (GPR)

The General Practice Residency (GPR) at UAB provides advanced postgraduate training in comprehensive general dentistry, with an emphasis on the management of medically complex and hospitalized patients. Residents gain hands-on clinical experience in hospital dentistry and receive multidisciplinary training through rotations in areas such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Otolaryngology, and other dental specialties. The program also develops residents’ skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, patient management, and comprehensive dental care.

1. Apply through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS).
2. Submit the Dean's Letter.
3. Submit two letters of recommendation.
4. Submit dental school transcripts.
5. Submit the required applicant essay.
6. Complete the application by the September 15 deadline; late applications are not reviewed.
7. Shortlisted applicants participate in the interview process.
8. Selected candidates complete the required admission and appointment procedures
