General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

Overview

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program at DRIEMS School and College of Nursing, Cuttack, is designed to develop skilled and compassionate nursing professionals capable of delivering quality healthcare services. The program integrates theoretical instruction with extensive clinical exposure to ensure students gain practical competence in patient care, midwifery, and community health nursing. Emphasis is placed on professional ethics, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Students receive hands-on training at the associated DRIEMS teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities, allowing them to work in real clinical environments under expert supervision. The curriculum follows the standards prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council, ensuring national recognition and employability. With experienced faculty, modern nursing skill labs, and hospital exposure, the institute focuses on building clinical confidence, communication skills, and professional responsibility. Graduates of the program are well-prepared to work in hospitals, nursing homes, community health centers, and public healthcare programs across India.

Eligibility

1. Passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board
2. Candidates from Science stream (PCB) are preferred; Arts/Commerce candidates may be considered as per INC norms
3. Minimum age: 17 years at the time of admission
4. Must be medically fit for nursing training
5. Fulfilment of INC and State Nursing Council eligibility requirements for the admission year

Minimum Education
