Overview
General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year programme designed to prepare students to work efficiently as members of the healthcare community. This programme encompasses subjects like Nursing Fundamentals, First Aid, Bio-Science, Behavioural Science, Nutrition and Child Health Nursing among much more. With its Internship Programme in the third year, the programme also trains future health professionals to provide effective nursing care and assist the doctors in surgical procedures, and adeptly handle patients during emergencies.

Eligibility
- Age must be between 17 to 35 years as on the 31st December.
- Must pass ‘10+2’ examination from any recognized Board with at least 45% marks in aggregate.
- Must pass in English in (10+2) examination.
- Candidates passing (10+2) in Vocational Stream must be from the Health Care Science discipline.
- The candidate will not be admitted, if she is found medically unfit. the following Examination are to be done at IINR before admission (i) Physical Examination by a (Registered) medical practitioner , (ii) Chest x – ray PA view, (iii) Routine examination of Blood, urine and stool, (iv) Blood group & RH factor, (v) Eye testing.
- Candidates from vocational streams at any open school will not be accepted.
- Candidates must be able to read , write and express in Bengali and English.
- The candidates must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of West Bengal for at least 5 years uninterruptedly on the date of application.
- Only female Unmarried /Widow /Divorce can apply for the course.
- Course is fully residential.
