General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

Overview

General Nursing and Midwifery(GNM) course is a diploma program that trains students in areas of critical care and incorporates values necessary to become nurses and midwives. The undergraduate program is of 3 years duration. Students will take part in classroom studies, hospital visits, community visits, projects and assignments during the course.

Students of GNM course have a moral obligation to act as responsible citizens by following a code of moral values. Nurses play a very important role in keeping society together. They act as the backbone of medical services in any nation.
Career Opportunities:
Develop the concepts & principles of theoretical knowledge to clinical nursing skills by applying relevant knowledge from the selected areas of nursing, physical, biological & behavioral sciences.

1. Assess the health status, identify nursing needs, plans, implement & evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention.
2. Assist the patients & their families in collaboration with the other members of the health team in meeting their needs.
3. Practice nursing skills in maintaining interpersonal relationship & educating individuals in hospitals & community health settings.

Eligibility

• Must pass‘10+2’ examination from any recognized Board with at least 40% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates passing (10+2) in Vocational Stream must be from the Health Care Science discipline.
