General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

Overview

General Nursing & Midwifery, popularly known as GNM, is a diploma course offered in many nursing colleges across India. The course is aimed at producing competent nurses. It is a divine service to humanity and is considered one of the prestigious courses. After pursuing GNM course, one can work as nurse in private/government hospitals, nursing homes, clinics or serve in community health services, especially in rural areas. Working as home nurse is also a bright option, after doing GNM. The course is taught to develop an aptitude for nursing and to provide the required knowledge and skills, to make the nurses capable of providing proper medical care to patients suffering from any type of illness.

GNM Nursing fresher are competent enough to serve at various hospitals and organisations after the completion of the diploma. They can start their career in nursing by joining as a Home Nurse, Health Visitor, Community Health Worker, Basic Health Worker and Rural Health Worker, Aanganwadi and ASHA worker.

Eligibility

Applicant must have completed their 10+2 from the Science stream, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
