General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

• The Minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
• The Maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.
• There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
• Registered as ANM with State Nursing Council. If application is for admission through ANM quota.
• 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board from the school and recognized by Indian Nursing Council with 40% marks.
• 10+2 Arts (Mathematics, Biochemistry, Economics, political science, History, Geography, Business studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English elective or Health Care science – Vocational Stream ONLY, passing out from recognized board.
• Students qualified in 10+2 Arts, Commerce or Science Examination or health care sciences.
• Students shall be Medically Fit.
• Students shall be admitted once in a year.

GNM referred as General Nursing and Midwifery it deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery. GNM or the General Nursing and Midwifery course can be pursued after the completion of class 12. The duration of the GNM diploma course is Three years, including six-month internship. GNM focuses on the provision of care of individuals, families, and communities. As mentioned GNM trains the students in taking care of the patients at large scale and is not only specific to a community. The course is categorized under the domain of paramedics. The diploma programme is designed to train the students as nurses with skills to make them competent to work in a hospital environment and perform duties such as providing first aid, assisting in research activities, wound surgeries and functioning effectively in a team. The GNM programme will also help the students in pursuing higher education.
