Fellowship Training Program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology

• Must have MD or DO degree from a recognized institution
• Must complete residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (ACGME-accredited)
• Must be eligible for board certification in primary specialty
• International graduates require valid ECFMG certification
• Must meet visa/funding requirements (if applicable)

The Fellowship Training Program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited program designed to train physicians in the comprehensive care of older adults. The program integrates clinical training in outpatient, inpatient, long-term care, and palliative care settings, enabling fellows to manage complex, multi-morbidity conditions commonly seen in aging populations. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary care, functional assessment, cognitive disorders such as dementia, and geriatric syndromes including frailty and falls. Fellows also engage in academic activities, research opportunities, and leadership development, preparing them for careers in clinical practice, academia, and healthcare systems focused on aging populations.
