Fellowship Programme in Perinatal Medicine & Neonatology

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
2. Completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency.
3. Passing scores on required licensing exams (USMLE/COMLEX).
4. ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
5. Application submission by deadline via ERAS with supporting documents.
6. Invitation to interview by the fellowship program.

The Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is a three-year ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship that prepares pediatricians to expertly care for critically ill and high-risk newborns, including very low birth weight and extremely preterm infants, infants with complex congenital anomalies, metabolic disorders, and respiratory and neurologic challenges. Fellows participate in a diverse spectrum of neonatal care environments including level III/IV NICU settings, family-centered care rounds, procedures such as advanced intubation and vascular access, complex ventilator and hemodynamic management, fetal-neonatal consultations, and collaboration with maternal–fetal medicine teams. Didactic education includes neonatal physiology, perinatal pathology, ethics and communication, quality improvement, research methodology, and evidence-based practice. Fellows are engaged in structured research or quality improvement projects with mentorship from faculty, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and attend conferences related to neonatology, developmental care, and translational research. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers in academic neonatology, clinical leadership, or specialized NICU practice.
