Fellowship Program in Forensic Psychiatry

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program before the fellowship start date.
2. Applicants should have an interest in forensic psychiatry, including legal evaluations, expert testimony, and psychiatric ethics.

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship prepares psychiatrists for careers in forensic practice, academic psychiatry, and organizational leadership. The program provides training in forensic assessments, expert witness testimony, criminal and civil evaluations, psychiatric ethics, and mental health law. Fellows gain practical experience through rotations at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, and various court settings. The program also includes seminars, research, teaching, and scholarly projects.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the 2026–2027 fellowship cycle.
2. Submit the required application and supporting documents through ERAS.
3. Applications are reviewed starting July 16, 2025.
4. Interviews are conducted through Thalamus or another interview platform.
5. Register for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match.
6. Follow the NRMP ranking and matching schedule for fellowship selection.
