Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

1. Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited General Surgery residency, or must be on track to complete it before the fellowship begins.
2. Must be board-eligible or board-certified by the time the fellowship begins.
3. Must have passing United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1, Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK), and Step 3, or equivalent Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) scores.
4. Must submit a medical school transcript and Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) / Dean's letter.
5. Must provide a personal statement describing professional goals and interest in vascular surgery.
6. Must provide three letters of recommendation, including one from the General Surgery Program Director.
7. International medical graduates must have a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
8. International medical graduates must have graduated from an ACGME-accredited medical school within the last five years.
9. The program offers a J-1 visa only and does not accept applicants requiring an H visa.

The Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, provides advanced training in open vascular surgery and complex endovascular procedures. Fellows gain comprehensive clinical and operative experience in aortic disease, carotid and cerebrovascular surgery, peripheral vascular disease, limb salvage, vascular trauma, venous disease, and dialysis access. Training includes exposure to high-volume cases across multiple affiliated hospitals, along with outpatient vascular care, vascular imaging, and vascular laboratory experience. The fellowship also provides opportunities for research, academic development, and preparation for independent vascular surgical practice.

1. Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) before the stated deadline.
2. Submit all required documents, including a photograph, personal statement, medical school transcript, MSPE/Dean's letter, examination scores, and three recommendation letters.
3. Applicants must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
4. Applications are reviewed by the program leadership.
5. Selected applicants are invited for an interview by email.
6. The interview typically includes a program overview, faculty interviews, a facilities and hospital-site tour, and lunch with current fellows.
