The Trauma Fellowship at The CORE Institute is a highly specialized orthopedic training program designed to develop advanced surgical and clinical expertise in trauma care. The fellowship is conducted in collaboration with the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and major tertiary hospitals in the region. Fellows spend significant time in the operating room managing a wide spectrum of trauma cases including fractures, complex reconstructions, and post-traumatic complications. The program provides hands-on operative experience under the supervision of experienced orthopedic trauma surgeons while gradually increasing clinical autonomy. Fellows also participate in trauma rounds, academic lectures, journal clubs, cadaver labs, and multidisciplinary case discussions. In addition to surgical exposure, the fellowship emphasizes clinical decision-making, perioperative care, and patient management. A structured research component is included, allowing fellows to contribute to academic orthopedic research and present findings at institutional research events. The program aims to prepare orthopedic surgeons for leadership roles in trauma surgery and academic orthopedic practice.
