Fellowship in Spine Surgery

The Spinal Surgery (Clinical) Fellowship is a one-year clinical fellowship providing comprehensive academic training in spine surgery, with primary emphasis on adult spine care and additional exposure to adolescent and pediatric conditions. Fellows gain experience in degenerative and deformity surgery, spinal trauma, infection, tumors, revision surgery, and minimally invasive spine surgery, along with newer techniques such as disc replacement, kyphoplasty, and surgical navigation. Training takes place at University of Colorado Hospital, the VA, and Children’s Hospital Colorado. The fellowship also emphasizes evidence-based spine care, resident teaching, clinical trials, and completion of a research project suitable for publication or presentation at a national spine meeting.

1. Apply through the San Francisco Match
2. Complete the Central Application Service (CAS) application
3. Submit the application by December 1 each year
4. Participate in the applicable Spring Match selection process
5. Selected candidates are matched to the one-year fellowship
6. The fellowship runs from August 1 through July 31
