The UAB Spinal Cord Injury Medicine Fellowship is a 12-month advanced training program focused on the comprehensive care of patients with traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries and disorders. Fellows gain experience in inpatient, outpatient, and consultation services while working with multidisciplinary teams to manage medical, neurological, functional, and rehabilitation needs. Training includes spinal cord injury management, rehabilitation planning, assistive technology, discharge coordination, and management of complex complications. Fellows also participate in specialty rotations, weekly educational sessions, Grand Rounds, journal clubs, research, and quality-improvement activities, preparing them for independent practice and certification in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine.
