The Clinical Speech-Language Pathology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a 12-month advanced clinical training program at the UAB Voice Center, providing comprehensive experience in the assessment and treatment of voice, swallowing, upper airway, head and neck cancer, neuromuscular disorders, and facial nerve disorders. Fellows develop advanced skills in clinical voice evaluation, acoustic and aerodynamic assessment, laryngeal imaging, swallowing assessments, upper airway evaluation, singing voice therapy, and tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis management. The program also includes in-person and telehealth therapy, multidisciplinary team rounds, tumor boards, clinical research, professional presentations, and weekly educational sessions, preparing fellows to work independently as members of interprofessional voice and swallowing care teams.
