Overview

The Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is a two-year ACGME-accredited subspecialty surgical training program designed to develop compassionate, skilled pediatric surgeons capable of managing complex surgical conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. The fellowship offers broad exposure to pediatric operative and perioperative care, including rotations in pediatric urology, neonatology, and pediatric ENT during the first year, with intensive service on the pediatric surgical service throughout the second year. Fellows gain progressive responsibility, participate in weekly didactic conferences, morbidity & mortality reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and assist in teaching residents and medical students. The program emphasizes clinical excellence, surgical autonomy, research involvement, and professional growth, with opportunities for quality improvement projects and presentation at national meetings. Clinical care primarily occurs at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware — a nationally recognized freestanding children’s hospital with extensive surgical volume, a Level I pediatric trauma designation, and affiliated clinical partnerships including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
