Fellowship in Pediatric Pathology

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
2. Completed at least two years of ACGME-approved anatomic pathology training
3. Passed USMLE Steps I–III
4. Pennsylvania medical licensure eligibility
5. Submission of application materials (CV, letters of recommendation, personal statement)
6. Interview with program leadership.

The Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is designed to equip trainees with the diagnostic acumen and practical experience needed for a career in pediatric pathology, whether in academic settings or private practice. Fellows gain hands-on expertise in pediatric autopsy pathology — from gross dissection to clinicopathologic correlation — and integral surgical pathology responsibilities that extend to months dedicated to clinical and perinatal pathology rotations. Training encompasses specialized areas such as electron microscopy, transplant pathology, neuropathology, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, and infectious disease pathology. Under the supervision of experienced pathologists, fellows advance in their ability to interpret complex specimens, formulate diagnostic reports, and engage in multidisciplinary case discussions. The fellowship also encourages scholarly activity, with support for participating in research projects, case write-ups, and pathology conferences facilitated by advanced laboratory facilities adjacent to clinical space. Graduates leave with both the practical and scholarly foundation to serve as expert pediatric pathologists.
