Overview
The Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (FPOS) at UICOM is an advanced ophthalmology fellowship designed to provide comprehensive clinical, surgical, and research training in pediatric eye diseases and strabismus. The program focuses on developing diagnostic and surgical skills for managing pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including strabismus, pediatric cataracts, pediatric glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), ocular motility disorders, and congenital eye diseases. Fellows receive hands-on experience through pediatric ophthalmology clinics, adult strabismus clinics, surgical procedures, pediatric hospital consultations, community vision programs, and research activities under expert faculty supervision.

Eligibility
- Must have completed an accredited Ophthalmology residency program
- Must be eligible for medical licensure in Illinois (USA)
- Must have completed ophthalmology specialty training before starting the fellowship
- Applicants should have interest and experience in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus care
- Candidates are selected through the fellowship application and review process
- International medical graduates must meet applicable U.S. training/licensure requirements

Admission Process:
- Apply through the San Francisco Match (SF Match) program for Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship positions
- Submit the required fellowship application materials through the match process
- Applications are reviewed by the Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship selection committee/preceptor
- Eligible candidates are considered for the interview process
- Fellowship appointments are generally scheduled from July to June (start date may be negotiated)
- Final selection is completed through the fellowship match/selection process based on applicant qualifications
